All Headline News announced that it has added daily astrological horoscopes to it's offerings of premium content available for syndication by websites, news papers, media outlets, ISP's, portals and digital signage companies.
Why post this? Well, All Headline News is a reasonably good source of content for live kiosk and digital signage applications that want newsfeeds. Feeds can be syndicated via RSS/XML, and they have programs available for syndicating their copyrighted content at your locations.

Wal-Mart's TV network 5th largest
I just came across this great article about WalMart TV (which has been getting a lot of press lately). In brief:
"[T]he principal reason for Wal-Mart TV is to show a constant stream of consumer product ads purchased by companies like Kraft, Unilver, Hallmark and PepsiCo. And little wonder. According to Wal-Mart and to an agency that handles its ad sales, the TV operation captures some 130 million viewers every four weeks, making it the fifth-largest television network in the United States after NBC, CBS, ABC and Fox." (my emphasis added)
I'd still like to see some hard stats, but typically WalMart doesn't plow money into something hand over fist unless it's really good for them.

RDM Integrates Flash Player
LOL, I don't know why you'd hype something like this. They've claimed to support Flash for ages, but apparently it's brand new: read the release.

TheVideoWall.com introduces “Presenter”
Not sure if this falls under the realm of dynamic digital signage or interactive kiosks, so I guess I'll post to both:
TheVideoWall.com introduces “Presenter” to Deliver Lowest Cost Dynamic Digital Signage and Interactive Kiosks on Multiple, Independent, Remote Screens.
Presenter Patented Technology enables one Windows PC to display and manage up to 16 screens, while each screen is running its own unique application, completely independent of the other screens.
Not sure why you'd want to do this in hardware when software like FireCast is available for just this sort of thing, but if you'd like to read it, the full press release is here.

Digital Signage and Kiosk Provider WireSpring Joins Retail Broadband Alliance
WireSpring Technologies, a developer of software and technology for interactive kiosks and digital signage systems, today announced that it has joined the Retail Broadband Alliance, a forum that makes it easy for retailers migrating to broadband networks to increase revenue, cut expenses, and improve the customer experience.
WireSpring’s offerings help retailers and brands reach customers at the point of decision, where an estimated 70 percent of purchasing decisions are made. These offerings fall into two categories:
* Dynamic POP displays and in-store TV networks, which deliver targeted advertising and informational content on the sales floor. Functioning like a private TV station, these systems allow visual merchandising managers and brand marketers to tailor their messaging based on numerous factors, including time of day and the department in the store where screens are placed.
* Self-service kiosks, which streamline sales processes by providing consumers with on-demand access to the services they need. Popular applications include signing up for loyalty programs, printing coupons, and applying for instant credit accounts.
When integrated into an existing co-op program, digital signage and kiosk systems can serve the threefold purpose of generating incremental revenues for the retailer, driving sales for their brands, and improving customer satisfaction in the purchase decision.

Wal-Mart Is Getting Upgraded
As the New York Times reports (free registration required), PRN is getting ready to upgrade the WalMart TV network (no doubt with technology from its acquisition of Impli back in 2003). From the article:
The placement of the wide, difficult-to-ignore screen at the store near Houston in the last few months represents one part of Wal-Mart's effort to capitalize on its captive audience. In the produce aisle, the TV screen gets shoppers' attention, thanks to its big size and lighted face, and from speakers installed on the ceiling, which create a kind of pathway of sound that can make even focused buyers turn toward its source.

While you might not think that KVMs are interesting or important, remember that these guys also make video over IP solutions (which makes in-store signage networks so much easier to deploy), so expect to find this technology coming your way soon.

Yet Another Digital Signage Blog
While I'm still writing and maintaing my primary blog (the Dynamic Digital Signage and Interactive Kiosks Weblog) at WireSpring, I'm also experimenting with a newsfeed-driven site, and thought it might be prudent to do so away from our wirespring.com assets for now.
